Excelling in sustainability
Even though Orbit’s almost brutalist design might make you dream of tropical summer nights, this is a pure Belgian product, from design to execution. In addition to an experienced team of in-house designers led by creative director and founder Katia Dewitte, the company has long had its own weaving and tufting department and, more recently, its own wool spinning and dyeing plant. However, the dyeing plant came first. Dyeing gives designers more flexibility when developing new colours. The spinning mill contributes to a vertically integrated production process.
The nearby production plant also significantly reduces CO2 emissions. Limited Edition has made substantial investments in solutions to market itself as a sustainable factory by choosing natural raw materials and eco-fibres and producing to order to avoid overproduction, for example. Sister company 2Tec2, which has grown into a global pioneer in woven flooring, plays an equally important role, contributing to a fully circular ecosystem with its own recycling plant. At Limited Edition, the waste vinyl processed there is reused in the braids for the Poolside and Laguna outdoor rugs.
