But first, let’s talk about that great design. What does that mean to you?

Emmanuel Devriendt, CEO: “My brother took his time to refine the design down to the last detail. He’s an architect and has a keen eye for proportions, but also for functionality. He sees our pots as ‘little houses for plants.’ These plant houses aren’t just architecturally soothing to look at—the right geometric proportions and natural color palette calm the mind. Just like a house, they also have proper drainage, they’re stable, and won’t crack or fade in the sun. A great design must combine aesthetics with functionality and sustainability. And that last point is also a priority at Cosapots: they’ll last a lifetime.” They worked under the radar for a long time to get the fundamentals right: “a great design” down to the last centimeter and in every aspect of functionality. Now that it’s perfected, they’re stepping into the spotlight. With a presence at Salone del Mobile, for example. “None other than Emma Hepburn Ferrer, granddaughter of Audrey Hepburn, turns our Cosapots into true works of art.”

You stand out for your understated style, yet you still make an impression and bring something new to the table. How?

“We produce mega-sized pieces, which naturally makes us stand out. Not every potter can handle these kinds of sizes. Think of sleek, straight, high-quality lightweight containers about three meters long. Or compositions of round, conical, or cubist pots, ranging up to about a meter in height. Demand is high, but few companies can technically achieve this. Our materials, the way we produce, and how we work are highly atypical. We’ve perfected our polymers in collaboration with experts from the boat and automotive industries to achieve unmatched quality: a sort of secret recipe. We manufacture in Vietnam and can scale up immediately when we deem it necessary. New employees can be trained in just a few weeks, and we don’t need to build additional ovens, for example. This allows us to respond very quickly. And we deliver extremely fast. Many designers or developers in the business market aren’t used to that. Delivery times of twelve weeks are not uncommon. We maintain a large inventory of our permanent collection in Europe and America because we know: often, vases are the final touch, and you don’t want to wait months.”

And then it’s time to share your story with the world. With none other than Audrey Hepburn’s granddaughter?

“That’s right. Now that we stand behind our product one hundred percent—the design, the quality, and the logistics—we’re proudly launching a new collection and showcasing it at two major trade shows. We’re launching Amo, an XXL pot with a conical design available in three sizes. This one is also perfect for creating beautiful arrangements. And we’re taking our collections to Salone del Mobile in Milan and to BDNY (New York). For Salone, we asked Emma Hepburn Ferrer—granddaughter of, that’s right—to paint a number of pots with her iconic animals. We’re proud to showcase her work on our Cosapots. I think we’ll be taking the pieces with us around the world.”
