The façade as a canvas

Some designs cannot be captured in an existing colour chart. BOSS paints has therefore adopted a new approach with BOSS finishes. This focuses on the designer’s vision, with bespoke textures and colours. The brand also guides the entire process, from the initial sample to the final application.

Marketer Loes Vandekerckhove and Business Developer for architects Evelien Desmet explain how BOSS finishes offers greater freedom: “Designers no longer have to tailor their creativity to what is currently available. They bring an idea to us, and we work out how to realise it technically. For example, we can perfectly match colours to a natural stone or concrete floor. But we’re just as happy to work with a completely new texture – think of a linen-look or a wood-effect finish. We translate a design vision into a finish that is technically sound, sustainable and feasible on site. And, of course, at BOSS finishes we also have existing looks and colours that provide inspiration or might even be the perfect match for a project straight away.”

That sort of creative freedom requires technical reliability. How do you guarantee that?

"That reliability is based on more than eighty years of expertise. We develop and test our finishes extensively for durability and weather resistance, maintain control over our raw materials and production, and remain available to offer advice throughout the works. After all, a decorative finish is only as strong as its execution. That’s why we put designers in touch with specialist tradespeople who have a thorough grasp of our techniques. We also continue to support the installers, by the way.”

What outdoor applications does BOSS finishes offer?

‘Our Stone Art and Sandrock products have been developed for both indoor and outdoor applications. Both finishes play with texture, depth and appearance – ranging from a refined mineral look to a distinctly tactile finish, and from monolithic to nuanced. They are not end products; they form the basis on which we create unique finishes.’

Does that automatically make us think of house façades?

"Absolutely not. We see BOSS finishes being used just as much on garden walls, pool houses, outdoor kitchens, patios, outbuildings or other architectural outdoor features. But yes, façades and large-scale projects are certainly among the possibilities. If required, we can manage a complete insulation system, including technical calculations, the supply of insulation materials and the final finish. In doing so, we deliver on our promise: the vision comes from the designer, the expertise to realise it from BOSS.”
