Organic Lily as the backbone of a corporate garden in Lauwe

“We wanted a place that reflects who we are and how we work.” Tuinen Vantomme built their new warehouse and office in the SME business park in Lauwe. They chose to ensure that the outdoor space was also fully in keeping with their identity as green experts. They achieved this in collaboration with design agency Greenconcepts. And the key to the story lies with Deer Concrete and their Organic Lily grass pavers, which not only provide technical support for the project but also help define its spatial and aesthetic character.

“We definitely didn’t want the standard solution you see in so many SME business parks,” explains Tuinen Vantomme. Their site naturally had to be functional, but it also had to reflect their vision of greenery, quality and future-oriented working practices. Greenconcepts translated that ambition into a design in which circulation, experience and planting reinforce one another. Deer Concrete’s Organic Lily grass pavers became a logical starting point: their organic shape, water permeability and natural appearance fit seamlessly into the overall concept.

Organic structure as a solution

The site had to accommodate a complex traffic layout: multiple access points, heavy use by cars and lorries, and a clear internal flow. Where straight lines would have imposed constraints, the organic forms offered freedom. Greenconcepts combined washed concrete for the main circulation routes with Organic Lily grass pavers in the surrounding areas. This creates a seamless transition between hard surfaces and greenery. Grass and plants are literally given space within the site’s structure, resulting in a biodiverse and layered garden.

Tested under intensive use

The grass pavers have now been in place for a year and a half and are used intensively every day by staff, visitors and vehicles. The lawn still looks beautiful and thick, thanks to the wide openings in the pavers that give the grass roots the space they need to grow. “All expectations have been met,” says Tuinen Vantomme. “The Organic Lily is not only aesthetically pleasing, but also practical and sustainable. The playful pattern adds character to the whole and blends in beautifully with the planting.” Greenconcepts is also convinced. Water infiltration, ecological impact and design freedom make the system a reliable part of their design language. “This is no longer an experiment, but a solution that has proven itself under intensive use.”

A corporate site with a distinct identity

The project in Lauwe demonstrates how even an SME business park can establish its own identity. Conscious choices clearly show who works there. By resolutely opting for organic design, biodiversity and water-permeable solutions, Tuinen Vantomme and Greenconcepts have created a space that is both functional and future-proof. Deer Concrete’s Organic Lily grass pavers play a central role in this overall design.
