From parcel boxes to comprehensive architectural solutions: ONZO reimagines access around the home

Whereas architecture used to begin at the front door, today’s customers expect a holistic design that starts right at the street front. It is from this evolution that ONZO, the new brand behind eSafe, emerged. What began with letterboxes and parcel boxes is now expanding into architectural gates in which features such as parcel collection, videophone systems and lighting are subtly integrated into the design. A conversation with Sylvie Cremelie, International Account Representative, and Lynn Nachtergaele, Marketing Manager.

A new name and an expanded range

“eSafe was strongly associated with mail and parcel reception. That’s what made us big. But customers and designers are increasingly looking for a single, harmonious whole. This led to the vision of taking a broader view of access and reception. The biggest evolution lies in our gates: today we offer swing gates and roller gates, fully tailored to high-end architecture. We seamlessly integrate functions such as parcel reception, videophone, keypad and lighting into the gate pillars. Everything forms a single architectural whole.”

A balance of form and function

“The new brand name is a Japanese portmanteau: ‘ON’ stands for taking responsibility, whilst ‘ZO’ refers to creating something beautiful. This perfectly encapsulates our vision: combining technology and functionality with tranquillity and aesthetics. Our design team swears by ‘Pure Line Design’ with an absolute minimum of visual stimuli: clean lines, harmonious proportions and no superfluous elements. Everything must radiate tranquillity, both visually and in use.”

Ease of use and modularity

“There is a huge demand for ease of use. Using our online configurator, a customer can work with their architect, designer or dealer to put together a complete gate, including all integrated components. We then prepare everything technically for production: cut-outs, integrations, finishes… The complete gate is delivered as a ready-to-assemble kit with an installation plan. This makes the installation process much simpler for the dealer. In addition, our gates have a fully modular design. If a component is damaged in a collision, there is no need to replace the entire gate. Future technologies can also be easily integrated. For example, if a customer wishes to add or replace a videophone at a later date, this is possible thanks to the removable front panel in the gate post.”

Made in Belgium for superior quality and control

“Design, engineering, production, and service are all handled centrally in Belgium. This allows us to thoroughly test our products and provide dealers with strong technical support. We also have our own painting facility: gates, posts, lighting, house numbers, and mailbox solutions are all painted together. This ensures perfect color consistency throughout the entire project. Furthermore, we offer more than 2,000 RAL colors at no extra cost. In this way, we contribute to projects that are flawless down to the last detail—starting right from the street. And soon, pedestrian gates will be added to the lineup as well.”
